On 6 October 2026, a delegation from Innovation Centre Denmark Africa (ICDK Africa) visited Zetech University to gain insights into the university's innovation ecosystem and explore opportunities for collaboration. The visit included engagements at the iZET Hub and the Futuristic Lab, where students are actively developing innovative solutions and robotics-based projects.
The discussions focused on the university's approach to nurturing student innovations from ideation and development through to commercialization. The delegation and University representatives explored the processes involved in transforming student-led innovations into market-ready solutions, while also examining some of the practical challenges innovators encounter when transitioning from prototypes to sustainable businesses.
The ICDK Africa delegation also held discussions with Zetech University's Innovation Manager on the opportunities and constraints that influence effective collaboration within the innovation ecosystem. The engagement highlighted innovation as one of the University's core values, reflected in its commitment to "We are not afraid to explore."
A key area of discussion was the development of an entrepreneurial mindset among students, particularly the balance between preparing graduates for employment and equipping them to create innovative solutions and businesses. The engagement further examined the University's mechanisms for supporting students beyond innovation competitions, including follow-up mentorship and capacity-building initiatives.
Students who excel in innovation competitions receive continued mentorship and incubation support through the Zetech Wezesha Incubation Hub, which provides an avenue for innovators to further develop, refine and advance their ideas towards greater impact and market readiness.
