In an effort to cultivate a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students, Raphael Mputhia, an Entrepreneurship Educator at Zetech University, recently participated in the Entrepreneurs Leaders Training Program – Educator Edition by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA).
Held across Mombasa, Naivasha, and Nairobi, the training focused on entrepreneurship, startups, and innovation, equipping educators with essential skills to inspire and nurture an entrepreneurial mindset among students. The program underscored the crucial role of entrepreneurship in job creation, addressing the urgent need for young graduates to develop self-sustaining businesses rather than solely relying on formal employment.
During the training, educators engaged in interactive sessions, case studies, and expert-led discussions, gaining practical insights into guiding students in identifying business opportunities, developing viable business models, and leveraging innovation to create competitive startups.
“One of the key takeaways from this program was the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial mindset early in students’ academic journeys,” said Mr. Raphael Mputhia. “By nurturing creativity, problem-solving skills, and risk-taking attitudes, we can empower students to pursue business opportunities aligned with their passions and skills.”
The training also emphasized the role of mentorship and networking, encouraging students to engage with industry experts, successful entrepreneurs, and potential investors.
As a dedicated educator, Raphael Mputhia is committed to integrating these insights into Zetech University’s entrepreneurship programs. Moving forward, he plans to incorporate hands-on learning experiences, including startup incubators, pitch competitions, and real-world business simulations, to help students transform their innovative ideas into viable enterprises.
He urges students to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic empowerment and sustainable development. “With the right mindset, skills, and support, students have the potential to become the next generation of business leaders and change-makers in Kenya and beyond,” he emphasized.
Zetech University continues to champion innovation and entrepreneurship, ensuring its students are well-equipped to drive economic growth and create solutions for the future.
