Technology continues to drive global transformation, reshaping economies, labour markets, and human interaction in unprecedented ways. Yet, despite increased access to education and professional opportunities, women remain significantly underrepresented in the technology sector. Recent global reports indicate that women make up only 28.2% of the STEM workforce, with fewer than one in four female STEM graduates transitioning into technology careers, compared to nearly half of their male counterparts.

Zetech University Tech Divas joined the Women in Tech Conference held at Oracle Academy, an event that highlighted the vital role of representation and visibility in advancing gender inclusivity in technology. By showcasing women’s capacity to lead and innovate, the conference reinforced global narratives that challenge stereotypes and broaden perceptions of women’s roles in STEM. Such visibility is not symbolic; it acts as a catalyst for reshaping industry norms and accelerating progress toward inclusive participation across all sectors.

“Our goal is to ensure that women not only see the possibilities in technology, but are also equipped with the tools to claim those spaces,” remarked Lorna Juma, Oracle Academy Programme Manager. “When talent, opportunity, and visibility align, innovation becomes more inclusive, economies grow stronger, and societies more equitable,” she added.

Delivering one of the keynote addresses, Ms. Janet Kamau, Africa Marketing Technology Director at Oracle Africa, emphasised the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI), noting that industries are being reshaped at an unprecedented pace as global investment in AI startups reaches record levels. She underscored the urgent need for digital literacy as the foundation for future opportunities, cautioning that without these critical skills, many risk being excluded from an economy increasingly defined by automation, data intelligence, and algorithmic decision-making.

By advancing digital literacy and fostering gender equality in STEM, Zetech University is at the forefront of preparing a future-ready generation. This commitment reflects a deliberate effort to nurture both female and male talent, ensuring that inclusivity and diversity remain central to technological progress. Beyond equipping students with technical expertise, the University is cultivating critical thinkers and innovators capable of addressing global challenges.
